Tools I Use Myself and Recommend

Let Canva transform your business! I still use the free version to create fabulous designs with a wide variety of free images, templates, icons, frames, etc. Create awesome social media graphics, mood boards, blog headers, and more. Canva is also really great for creating beautiful branded pdf and ebooks. Custom dimensions are also available.


MailChimp has a very comprehensive free version. Create great looking branded templates in 5 minutes that make your email design so simple and efficient!

Ability to connect with eCommerce sites. You can manage your Abandoned Cart list, easily set up automated email sequences, design Instagram and Facebook Ads and create an unlimited number of landing pages – free!


What can I say – this is an amazing drag and drop website builder! 

Offers a comprehensive range of free themes (templates) and a wide assortment of funnels.

Design and launch a landing page within a few minutes. Tools include membership sites and full-fledged online stores.

Includes Amazon Hosting, analytics and tracking, and of course, great forms builders.

Enounce MySpeed 

This is an amazing little tool – so simple to add to your browser. You can speed up video up to 5X or slowdown without losing any sound clarity. I use it all the time to get through some video and podcast sections I’ve heard before or want to slow down so I can take notes. Awesome! I’ve had it for over 3 years and probably one of my favourite tools!

Buffer makes it easy for businesses and marketing teams to schedule posts, analyze performance, and manage all their accounts in one place.

I have a Pro account, but they have a free version where you get 3 accounts with 10 posts per accounts.

You can now schedule Instagram posts and have them posted automatically. Yeah! They also provide great analytics.


Asana is so easy to learn, I was set up and using it within minutes. It’s so easy I created a template of a training event and then simply copy that as I need it.

This tool keeps me on schedule with less likelihood of missing tasks. For example, addition of events to different platforms, social media posts, correspondence with the trainer, reminder emails, etc. Doing this for multiple events would make my life more stressful.


Let’s face it – if you have clients and there is account or app logins sharing, then you need the security of LastPass. We also have so many apps/tools that require unique logins on different platforms (desktop & mobile), having to remember only one master password makes life so much easier. There is a free version available. 


Online storage. Free version gets you 16GB of space and you can add more as you refer other people. 

It’s great for collaborating remotely - I upload graphics and docs for client review.

TIP: uploading your Instagram graphics to Dropbox is a better option rather than using up space on your phone.

TIP: When travelling, upload a scan of your passport and insurance docs.


When I buy photos, Deposit Photos is one of my favourite options. I price shopped and compared to other providers, I like that an image download can be for any size – rather than paying credits based on image size.

One of the options I like is that I can buy credits On Demand – as I need them – no monthly obligation and I get free monthly downloads. AND their pricing is displayed in CAD dollars.

Creative Market

This truly is a marketplace of independent creators for entrepreneurs. A huge inventory of unique images, font, graphics, etc – widely priced.
For example, you can buy an image for as little as $5. Lots of bundle options. 
When you sign up, you get some free goods. Bonus!


Evernote helps you capture and prioritize ideas, projects, and to-do lists, so nothing falls through the cracks. Evernote Basic (free) allows for free note taking and collaborating remotely. Really, this is my go to for idea dumping, annual goal planning, growth ideas and storing urls’ of competitor websites. There is a bit of a learning curve getting used to filing of Notebooks and Notes, but if you think of Evernote as a filing cabinet, it makes perfect sense. “One Time” is free and provides one-time self-destructing links so you can safely share sensitive information. This is the perfect way for clients to give you login details instead of sending them via email or instant message.
